And truly, this (the Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
