The dead land is a sign for them. We revive it, and from it produce grain from which they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 Neither can the sun overtake the moon, nor the night outpace the day: Each of them keeps coursing in its orbit. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 We have created for them the like of it in which they ride. 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). 45 Yet there never comes to them any sign of their Lord's signs, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, “Spend in Allah’s cause, from what Allah has provided you”, the disbelievers say regarding the believers, “Shall we feed these, whom if Allah willed, would have fed? You are not but in open error!” 47 And they say: "When will this promise come to pass, if what you say is true?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 No (chance) will they then have, by will, to dispose (of their affairs), nor to return to their own people! 50
