The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
