Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
