The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ They (the believers) ask you (Muhammad) about the booty captured (from the enemies) during a war. Tell them, "It belongs to God and the Messenger. If you have faith, have fear of God. Settle the disputes among yourselves and obey God and His Messenger." 1 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely - 2 Who establish prayer and who expend of that wherewith We have provided them. 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 Just as thy Lord ordered thee out of thy house in truth, even though a party among the Believers disliked it, 5 They disputed with you about the truth after it had become clear, (and they went forth) as if they were being driven to death while they saw (it). 6 [Remember, O believers], when Allah promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers 7 That He may manifest the truth of what was true and show the falsehood of what was false, though the guilty disliked. 8 When you (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) were seeking the help of your Lord, so He answered your prayers that, “I will help you with a row of thousands of angels.” 9 And Allah made not this save as a glad tidings, and that your hearts might thereby be set at rest; and succour cometh not but from Allah. Verily Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
