And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
