The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
