He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
