The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
