The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
