He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
