Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
