The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ They will question thee concerning the spoils. Say: 'The spoils belong to God and the Messenger; so fear you God, and set things right between you, and obey you God and His Messenger, if you are believers.' 1 Believers are only they whose hearts tremble with awe whenever God is mentioned, and whose faith is strengthened whenever His messages are conveyed unto them, and who in their Sustainer place their trust 2 Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them. 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 As it was your Lord who rightfully brought you forth from your house, even though some of the believers disliked it, 5 They disputed with you about the truth after that had become evident, as if they were being driven to death with their eyes wide open. 6 God promised you that one of the two parties would fall to you, and you wished that the one without sting should be yours, but God wanted to establish the truth by His words and cut off the root of those who denied the truth -- 7 in order that He might verify the truth and annul the falsehood, even though the wrongdoers hated it. 8 Remember ye implored the assistance of your Lord, and He answered you: "I will assist you with a thousand of the angels, ranks on ranks." 9 God wrought this not, save as good tidings and that your hearts thereby might be at rest; help comes only from God; surely God is All-mighty, All-wise. 10
