The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
