The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
