The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
