And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
