And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
