By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 Warn the men. 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
