The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
