The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta'. Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Clear Book; 1 a guidance, and good tidings unto the believers 2 who establish their prayers, and pay the obligatory charity, and are certain of the Everlasting Life. 3 Those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have decked out fair for them their works, and they wander blindly; 4 It is they for whom a grievous chastisement lies in store; it is they who shall be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 (Muhammad), you have certainly received the Quran from the All-wise and All-knowing One. 6 [Mention] when Moses said to his family, "Indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you from there information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves." 7 But when he reached it, he was called, saying: Blessed is Whosoever is in the fire and Whosoever is round about it! And Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! 8 O Moses, I am that God, the mighty and all-wise. 9 And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear. 10 Save him who hath done wrong and afterward hath changed evil for good. And lo! I am Forgiving, Merciful. 11 “And put your hand inside your armpit – it will come out shining white, not due to any illness; a sign among the nine signs towards Firaun and his people; they are indeed a lawless nation.” 12 But when Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came to them, clear to see, they said: "This is a manifest magic." 13 And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. 14
