۞ Hast thou not observed the Hypocrites say to their misbelieving brethren among the People of the Book? - "If ye are expelled, we too will go out with you, and we will never hearken to any one in your affair; and if ye are attacked (in fight) we will help you". But Allah is witness that they are indeed liars. 11 Surely if they are driven forth, they shall not go forth with them, and surely if they are attacked, they shall succour them not, and even if they succoured them they would turn their backs; and then they shall not be succoured. 12 You are certainly greater in being feared in their hearts than Allah; that is because they are a people who do not understand 13 They fight not against you even together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Their enmity among themselves is very great. You would think they were united, but their hearts are divided, that is because they are a people who understand not. 14 Just as those who, not long before, tasted the mischief of their actions, there awaits for them a painful punishment. 15 the like of [what happens] when Satan says unto man, "Deny the truth!" - but as soon as [man] has denied the truth, [Satan] says, "Behold, I am not responsible for thee: behold, I fear God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!" 16 So the end of both will be that they will be in the Fire, abiding therein. Such is the recompense of the Zalimun (i.e. polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in Allah and in His Oneness, etc.). 17
