The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
