He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
