The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
