The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
