The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
