In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
