The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
