The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
