Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
