And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
