The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
