The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 none can avert that. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
