Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
