A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you by your Lord, and do not follow any other lord apart from Him. Yet little do you care to remember. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
