We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
