Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron, 114 And delivered them and their people from the great affliction. 115 We helped them and they were victorious. 116 We granted them a Clear Book, 117 And showed them the right path. 118 And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times: 119 "Peace be upon Moses and Aaron!" 120 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 121 Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves. 122 And lo! Elias was of those sent (to warn), 123 When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators - 125 Allah is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 126 In response they denied him, so they will surely be brought forth as captives. 127 Except the chosen slaves of Allah. 128 And We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 129 Peace be on Elias. 130 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 131 for he was truly one of Our believing servants! 132 Lot too was one of the Envoys; 133 When We delivered him and his followers, all-- 134 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind; 135 Then We destroyed the rest. 136 You pass by their desolate habitations in the morning 137 Or at night. Then how is it you do not understand? 138

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
