The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
