The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
