At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
