The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
