The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
