The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
