He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
