The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
