۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He (Prophet Jesus) was only a worshiper whom We favored and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 It is the knowledge of the Hour. Have no doubt concerning it, and follow me. This is a Straight Path, 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
