A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 And those whose (deeds) are lighter in the scale shall perish for violating Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
