The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
