[Useless, though, will be his repentance: for [as long as he was alive] he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray [for enlightenment,] 31 He rejects the faith, turns away 32 then he went to his household arrogantly. 33 Nearer to you (is destruction) and nearer, 34 Again (consider how) nearer to you and nearer. 35 Does man think that he is to be left to wander without an aim? 36 Was he not a drop of fluid which gushed forth? 37 then he became a clot, and then Allah made it into a living body and proportioned its parts, 38 and then He made of him a pair, male and female? 39 Is not He, then; able to bring the dead back to life? 40
